Conferentie over HIV en AIDS in Dublin: verslag

Doortje ’t Hart reisde begin oktober naar Dublin om daar de conferentie bij te wonen over Children Affected by Aids (CABA).

Dit 4th Global Partners Forum on Children affected by HIV/AIDS ‘Together for Children’ in Dublin, Ireland was bedoeld om leden van nationale CABA werkgroepen bij te praten over de voortgang die wereldwijd gemaakt is als een antwoord op de problemen van kinderen die met AIDS te maken hebben omdat een ouder of familielid sterft of omdat ze zelf HIV of AIDS hebben. Tijdens de conferentie werden de resultaten van JLICA, IATT and RIATT besproken en actieplannen geformuleerd en verwoord in een communiqué

The 4 major categories of action points in the communiqué are:
1. keep parents and children alive
2. strengthen families and communities as units of care and support
3. increase effectiveness of services and funds
4. human rights of vulnerable children
‘the response has to spread much faster than the virus itself’

A very good report was given to us in the conference ‘synthesis of evidence’. It is based on the JLICA findings (advance synthesis papers of the 4 JLICA tracks are attached) and the IATT outcomes, which you can find on: www.unicef.org/aids/index_iatt

There are 7 IATT working groups on the following subjects:
1. civil registration
2. strengthening community role in the response
3. education
4. M&E
5. National Plans of Actions
6. Social Protection
7. Food security and Funding
