? Is your organisation really able to reach the poorest of the poor?
?  Do you know how to meet the new requirements of institutional donors like EC on inclusion of persons with disabilities?
?  Are you ready to test whether your organisation is able to meet the rights of persons with disabilities?

INVITATION
Inclusion of Persons with a Disability
Focal Person Training
April 18 & 19
Utrecht, the Netherlands

Several reports indicate that we are not going to reach the Millennium Development Goals if we don’t start including persons with a disability in regular development initiatives. The Thematic Learning Programme (TLP) on Inclusion of Persons with a Disability is an action research programme on inclusion of persons with a disability in development cooperation.

Apart from the joint action research activities, the TLP also offers NGOs the opportunity to explore how the organisation can ensure access for persons with disabilities to development projects, by addressing subjects like the rights of persons with a disability, (HR) policy formulation, disability awareness, culture and accessibility of organisations, PME, and practical tools to develop attitudes and knowledge of development workers about inclusive development.
The programme started with an introduction session on February 25.
Now, at the start of the two year trajectory, we offer a two-day training for focal persons of participating organisations. Interested NGOs can still join the initiative.

Focal Person Training
The focal person training will take place on April 18 & 19 2011 in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
Participants will be introduced to the UN Convention on Rights of Persons with a Disability and disability concepts from a rights-based approach and to the more practical aspect of the action research (e.g. how to assess your organisation and develop an action plan?).
Other questions addressed in this training are:
• How to mainstream disability in your own organisation?
• How to work on disability mainstreaming with your partner organisations?
• How to learn from experiences?

And then what?
As a focal person you are responsible for the process within your own organisation. After the focal person training, the next steps are taken in a joint learning setting.
• The self-assessment, which will help you to see in which areas your organisations could take action.
• We stimulate your organisation to develop your own action plan and share your experiences within the TLP.
• The action plans and learnings will be shared in the three learning & reflection sessions spread over 2011 and the first half of 2012.
• Experts will be invited during training & learning sessions.

Costs
The costs for participation in the programme (focal persons training + three learning sessions) are €250 for PSO-members (€50 per day), €500 for non PSO-members (€100 per day).
