Dear Colleague,
On behalf of UNICEF and Save the Children, the Columbia Group for Children in Adversity is conducting a review of relevant child protection monitoring, evaluation, and research tools. We are identifying these tools as part of the development of a comprehensive mapping framework, which will be used to inform the establishment of an inter-organizational Child Protection Monitoring and Evaluation Reference Group (MERG). The information collected will also be made available to support improved monitoring, evaluation, and research in child protection.
We would like to include you in this review process and are asking you to suggest any tool(s) that collect data and information on child protection issues and the performance of child protection programmes at any level from the project-level to the national-level. These tools can:
- be either well-established or under-development;
- be used in a variety of contexts, including emergencies (e.g., conflict, natural disaster, etc.), transition settings, long-term development settings, and urban/rural contexts;
- address a broad range of child protection issues such as violence against children, children without family care, children affected by armed conflict, justice for children, child trafficking, harmful traditional practices, child migration/”children on the move”, birth registration, psychosocial support, and child labour; we are also interested in tools relating to the M&E of child protection systems.
Examples of a ”tool” may include manuals/guides/toolkits, monitoring frameworks, questionnaires, interview protocols, or indicators and data collection/research methodologies.
We kindly request that you email this information to cpmapping@gmail.com by MAY 7RD, 2010. Please feel free to send an email to this address with any questions that you might have.
Thanks so much in advance for your time and effort.
